Admittedly, when one gets a chance to blog material that comes straight from the namesake of one’s site, it is a jaw-dropping moment! Ok, ok, yes I’m still pinching myself that John sat down and typed away some answers to the questions we posed him – something that literally just happened out of the blue (and almost didn’t occur because I was about to delete a message I initially thought had come from someone who was pulling my leg!)
Now, I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: He was super-nice about the whole thing. When I asked if he would be willing to answer some questions for us, he unhesitatingly responded, “Just ask away”!
Then there is the question that begs to be answered: What can possibly be blogged about that would top the material found in Friday’s post? Begrudgingly, I have to admit that for the last two days I have suffered from “Blogger’s Block”. (Umm, is that even a word?)
As a result of this lack of flow to my cerebrum, I decided to just keep it simple today and reference a few items which piggyback off of Friday’s blog.
If you enjoyed reading what John had to say in our little Q and A, there are two other places of interest to check out. The first is here, at the Saint Anselm College website. John spoke to aspiring journalists on the morning of June 5th during a lively Q and A session. The Saint Anselm page has a podcast for you to download, in which he talks to students about his background and career. He gives some great advice as well as detailed insight into what it it is like working behind the scenes on a campaign trail. (Not to mention, he does a great imitation of the other “Mr. King” working at CNN.) Here are some pictures of that morning:
Another great place to read about John speaking to a group is at the website of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. In May of last year, John delivered a commencement speech which you are sure to enjoy. You will notice that some of the themes he touched on were also included in our little Q and A.
And in closing for today, here is a gratuitous screencap…
