I Just Sacrificed 3 Hours to the Google Gods.

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Happy Tuesday Cyberworld!  I’d like to start by saying that I think we’ve gotten a little off track here at Johnthenewsking, we’ve lost a little of our focus.  I would like to try and rectify that right now:

Ah, isn’t that better?  You know, we (and by we, I mean, me) at JTNK try to be mature and respectful in regards to Mr. King.  And while he is most certainly a first-class journalist, sometimes you just gotta say “Damn, you are hottie!”  Handsome, handsome man…

Okay, I’m better now.  Forgive me.  Anyway, I started working on this post at about 10 this morning.  I thought I’d rummage around Google for a few JK tidbits I might have missed in the last few months.  Well, that was THREE FREAKIN’ HOURS AGO!  I can’t keep anything I just read straight, and I’m in desperate need of a nap.  Here are three things I linked before my eyes started to cross:

1.  I don’t spend a great deal of time on tvguide.com (no time at all really- didn’t TV Guide jump the shark in about 1992?) but apparently I should have been ’cause you can keep track of JK’s TV schedule: TV Guide

2.  From TV Week.  I just came across a guest commentary that JK wrote (in April!, where have I been!?) about people’s reaction to the Magic Wall: A Little Bit of Magic Brings the Election Home It’s kind of sweet.

3.  I found this to be hilarious, I don’t know why.  The Magic Wall has it’s own Wikipedia page! Multi-Touch Collaboration Wall

Apparently you can order one from the Neiman Marcus catalogue!  You know, Christmas is coming up…  If you don’t know what to get your favorite JK blogger… just sayin’…  It would look nice in my living room…

Speaking of looking nice in my living room… Sorry, got off track there.

I should actually do some work since I haven’t done a darn thing other than play on the Internet since I got here.  I will leave you with (trumpets sound)

The Minority Report

Monday, 03.31.08 Posted By Mille

Update: I’ve just been informed that John is filling in for Wolf on The Situation Room this afternoon.

Happy Monday everyone. The good thing is that Mondays only have to happen once a week, lol! I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing weekend. I know I did! I cannot believe that we are already 3 months into 2008. Where oh where does the time go??

Anywho, here’s a picture to get us going for today’s topic:

Why, you may ask, do I have this picture of Tom Cruise from Minority Report? Well, first of all, I think it is a fantastic movie, and it’s one of my favorite TC science fiction films. However, that is not why I posted it today. Instead, take a peek at this:

Notice the similarities?
Now, granted, John doing his thing over at the magic wall is something we’ve covered in detail before, and it really is not anything new to those of us who have been watching him on primary nights as results trickle in throughout the evening.
However, I found this little article which compared John King to Tom Cruise in Minority Report!!! This page has a video which highlights some of John’s moments at the board, shown in rapid succession, to the point where he almost really does look like TC working the computer screen in MR!! lol.
Ok, here’s a little something I just couldn’t resist throwing in.

Yup, that’s John pointing at good ol’ El Paso County in far West Texas!!! (Thanks Cyn for sending me over this clip.)
In closing today, I have a couple of screengrabs from John’s hosting of TSR last week. Enjoy and see you all tomorrow.

His Little Special Niche

Wednesday, 02.20.08 Posted by:Katie

Aloha Kakahiaka na haumana o johnthenewsking! Good Morning, everyone.

The caucuses last night were crazy, awesome, and inspiring all at the same time. My mom got there at around five thirty to register as Democrat and they were already running out of registration forms. So they waited and waited to vote, but their precinct and the neighboring precincts had run out of ballots. The precinct captains TORE UP PIECES OF A YELLOW LEGAL PAD and they wrote the name of the candidate on it. Go figure. The average Hawaii caucus was about 4,000 voters, but this year with about 50% percent of precincts reporting there are about 15,000 votes.

So, Suzanne Malveaux has been on Oahu reporting. I think she is an amazing, competent reporter, but I can’t stand her shirt.

There are so many companies and stores (like Manuhealii) that make beautiful dresses and tops. Places like Hilo Hattie and the ABC Store are closer to Waikiki, but driving a little to that store is totally worth it. Ok, that was Part One of my rant.

Part Two: John called Hawaii the remote islands and geographically, we are. These are a few things that I have to clear up about the Aloha State. And yes, I have actually been asked about each one.

-Yes, we have electricity

-Yes, we have internet access

-No, we don’t have thatched roofs. We’ve got shingles and everything.

-I don’t surf to other islands. Actually, I don’t surf at all.

-I actually perfer jeans to hula skirts.

Ok, now the part that you’ve all been waiting for.. I just googled John King + CNN

John King- Master Manipulator

“My son jokes with me… that he actually likes what I do now,” King said. “But I’m a little worried about it, because the cab driver who brought me here today said, ‘I love that map board.’ It’s obviously connecting with people in a way beyond what I would’ve thought.

This is kind of a negative CNN article, but look at this quote.

The diamond in this rough is John King, CNN’s chief national correspondent, whose cool parsing of voting patterns is superb.

Ok, John and the Wall were on tonight from the beginning of the Election Center to Larry King Live. It was more of the same, which is as always, amazing. My iTunes is acting up, so no caps, sorry! However I found pics from the 2005 and 2006 NBA Tech Summits.

Happy Wednesday!

Howdy folks, welcome to the end of another week! And what a week it’s been. As loyal readers of Johnthenewsking know, we had quite the party to celebrate Super Tuesday. I will say that the life-size Anderson Cooper mural in ACanderfan’s house is remarkably life like. That was money well spent. However I became the victim of a horrible smear campaign afterward, I will not go into further detail since it involves He-who-shall-not-be-named-on-Fridays. Go back and read Wednesday’s comments and you will understand my horror. On top of such humiliation I found that someone was taking pictures of the evening’s festivities, put them to music and posted them to the web! My reputation is ruined! I still don’t know who invited the green guy and the donkey…

Now that that is out of the way, we can go on to more important business. Lets see, I know there was something big to report. What was it?

Oh, that’s right: JK360 baby!

Did anyone else love the (albeit somewhat awkward) runway shot?

There was a lot of politics (duh), a little storm news, and a dash of Britney, and it all added up to the highlight of my Thursday.

Thank you CNN.

There has been a lot of talk about CNN’s “Magic Wall” this week. I must say I really like it, but am I the only one who thinks that there is something game-showy about it? John, I have no doubt you could give Vanna White a run for her money.

I’d like to buy a “A”, Pat.

Weekend Discussion Question: Have you ever stayed home on a Friday or Saturday night to watch CNN? Discuss!
